Yoga is a Gratitude Practice

November 13 Yoga is a Gratitude Practice

Last week’s post was focused on how to start your day, according to Ayurveda and how that brings us back to gratitude and recognizing that yoga and life are a practice of seva, service. This week we follow with what to do then at the end of your day, in reflecting on how your day unfolded. Connecting self care to our daily dharma, the purpose of our life today, we see service for what it really is: opportunity to bless another person, to add to the positive field of collective consciousness, to lessen suffering and provide ease along life’s journey. When we look at the bigger picture, these opportunities help us more than we help others. The ripple effect of “doing good” is very apparent. We can “count our blessings” at the end of the day and feel deep gratitude for the richness of our lives. Along the thought-wave, we can’t help but reflect even past what has happened today, to appreciate what has happened along the way of our lives, to give us opportunity to serve and to give of ourselves.

Maintaining the capacity to give and to serve depends on self care. Enjoy all aspects of yoga practice, knowing it is a wellness and empowerment practice. Support your practice with aromatherapy. Use essential oils such as lemon or cinnamon to counter airborne pathogens; lavender, cedarwood, vetiver and Roman chamomile to support deep and restful sleep; peppermint and frankincense to massage the body; and melissa and tangerine to feel upbeat and positive.

Join us next week as our focus then comes to be tying the two ends of the day together: living with presence. As your week unfolds, tell us about your gratitude and seva practices. Use #yogasevaEYP2019 Throughout November we will enter all posts in a drawing for 2 DVDs and 2 lavender eye pillows – one for you and one for a friend!
